Cinderella’s evil stepsisters are getting the live action movie treatment at Disney– and the studio has tapped the dynamic duo of Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo to take the lead on the film.
According to Deadline, Academy Award nominees Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo are re-teaming to bring the tale of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters to life.
The Bridesmaids and Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar vets have officially signed on to work with Disney on developing the live action movie.
Disney fans shouldn’t expect to see Wiig and Mumolo starring as stepsisters Anastasia and Drizella Temaine, however. While both have signed on to work on the project behind the scenes, it’s not yet clear as to whether Wiig and Mumolo will actually appear in the movie itself.

Furthermore, a source close to the project reveals that the plan is to cast younger stars in the roles of Cinderella’s stepsisters. Should Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo appear in the live-action movie, it’ll be in other roles entirely.
As for the movie itself, the plan is for the live action feature to center on the Tremaine sisters as they struggle to uphold their family’s legacy.
The newly announced feature film finds Disney continuing on their trend of shining a spotlight on some of their most notorious villains.
Coming up next, Disney fans can look forward to sinking their teeth into Cruella starring Emma Stone. The upcoming live action feature serves as an origin story for the titular villain, whom moviegoers first met in the Disney animated classic, 101 Dalmatians.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Disney’s live-action movie about Cinderella’s evil stepsisters premiere on the big screen.
