Who was Cruella DeVil before she became the iconic villain we first met in 101 Dalmatians? That’s the question that Disney’s newest live-action feature.
Cruella finds Oscar winner Emma Stone breathing new life into the villain by catching up with the titular baddie when she’s simply Estella— a clever and creative young grifter simply looking to break into the world of fashion.
But Estella’s life slowly starts falling apart at the seams when she finds herself studying under the cold and callus Baroness von Hellman (played by Academy Award winner Emma Thompson).
“Let me give you some advice, you can’t care about anyone else. Everyone else is an obstacle,” says the Baroness at the beginning of the trailer. “You have the talent, whether you have the killer instinct is the big question.”

Others who star opposite Stone and Thompson in the upcoming villain origin story include Mark Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Joel Fry, Emily Beecham, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.
Behind the camera, the live-action film was directed by
I Tonya helmer Craig Gillespie, and features a screenplay by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara.
Cruella is set to be released simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access on May 28.
