Channing Tatum is heading over to Disney for his next big screen project.
According to Variety, Channing Tatum has officially signed on to star in the upcoming Disney feature, Bob the Musical.
In addition to starring in the film, Tatum will also serve as a producer on the project via his Free Association banner. Others involved with producing include Tatum’s partners Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernana, in addition to Tripp Vinson and Chris Bender.
Currently, there’s no word yet on who will serve as a director on Bob the Musical, but given that the production has actually been in the works over at Disney for over a decade, it seems as though casting Tatum alone is a huge step forward for the forthcoming feature.
Over the course of the 10 plus years that Bob the Musical has been in development, the film has passed through quite a few hands in terms of screenwriters and directors.
At one point or another, Michael Chabon, Alan Loeb, Mike Bender, John August, Lowell Ganz, and Babaloo Mandel were all attached to pen the script. On the directors side of things, past helmers of the project have included the likes of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, Adam Shankman, Mark Waters, and Michel Hazanavicius.
As for the premise, the film is set to focus on a regular guy who wakes up to find that he’s living his worst nightmare of being trapped in a full blown musical.
It definitely sounds like a fun project, so we’ll be looking forward to learning more about it as the film moves further and further into production!
As Bob the Musical is still in early stages of production, there’s currently no word on when we can expect the movie to hit theaters.
As for Tatum, fans can next catch him voicing George Washington in America: The Motion Picture, and starring opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the upcoming musical comedy, Wingmen.
