The Detective Pikachu new trailer debuted during the NFC Championship game in the form of a quick TV spot.
A reveal of Snubble’s live-action design premiered in the TV spot, and oh boy, does it look fuzzy.
Other new moments in the trailer include a new Mr. Mime scene in which the Psychic-Type struggles to run away, along with some new shots of Charizard in the fighting ring. Psyduck looks pretty scared on the back of its trainer, who is a girl seen working with Tim in their quest to discover the fate of Tim’s dad.
In taking an in-depth look at all of the Pokémon in the first trailer, we were able to find some in nearly every shot. The artist that created the character designs was apparently hired because of his fanart, which bears a close resemblance to the final looks of many in the pocket monsters.
Mr. Mime may have gotten all of the attention at the end of the first trailer for Detective Pikachu, but this time around, the titular character himself got the funniest bit toward the end. With a bit of a rumbly tummy, Pikachu tells Tim that a bad smell is from the yellow rodent. “Apologies, my tummy’s bad from all of the coffee.” Never before has a talking mouse been more relatable.
One can only assume that the tone of this movie will be in-tune with a PG audience, what with the aforementioned bathroom humor. At that, crowds of all ages are bound to show up in droves for Warner Bros.’ Detective Pikachu this May 10, 2019.
Unfortunately, the best look that we get at Snubble is in the above screenshot, as Warner Bros. has yet to upload the TV spot on their YouTube channel. For now, check out the trailer via the Detective Pikachu Instagram page.
