About ‘Decidedly With Baby’ by Stina Lindenblatt:
One-Night Stand Rule #1: always check the condom’s expiry date.
Oops.
Career-orientated Holly Whittaker has a plan, and being a mom is not part of it. Her not-quite-a-fairytale childhood involved being brought up by thirty nannies (yes, thirty!), so what the heck does she know about being a mom anyway?
Playboy Josh Hoffer has no room in his life for a family or steady girlfriend. His hockey career comes first. Life is tough when you’re on the road more times than you’re not. Besides, what does he know about diapers and baby yoga and fairytale princesses?
After Holly receives some unexpected bad news, she’s looking to blow off a little steam, and hot sex with Mr. No Commitment himself fits the bill just fine. But sex is never without consequences, and this time it’s more than her heart that is at stake. This time, Mr. No Commitment and Ms. Career need to figure out what’s really important to them and find room in their heart for another—plus one.
Warning: Contains naughty texts, shower sex, and enough profanities to fill an oversized swear-word jar.
‘Decidedly With Baby’ by Stina Lindenblatt review:
If you’re looking for a feel good novel with a dash of sexiness, Decidedly With Baby is a great choice. The novel contains two of my favorite things in romance, hockey and a surprise pregnancy plot! Though the plot does feel slightly predictable at times, it’s still a pleasure to read. Which makes it a good choice for when you just want something fun and quick.
Holly and Josh start off as just friends, having met in the first book of the series. Despite a mutual attraction, they keep things friendly. That is until circumstances have them both looking for comfort, and a night of drinking has them making some less than stellar decisions.
For me, the book really picks up after Holly realizes she’s pregnant. Maybe it’s just because I was excited to get to that part of the story but it does feel a bit slow in the beginning — especially the part where she goes back home. After that though, it’s great to see how much care Stina put into showing the different ups and downs of pregnancy through ought the different months.
Even though Josh nor Holly ever envisioned themselves having children, it melts the heart to watch as they prepare to become parents and partners in raising their child together. Along the way it’s easy to see how they start to fall for one other. They may not have planned for any of it to happen, but it’s easy to see how the pair belong together.
Holly is the strong, independent type, and it’s nice to see how she doesn’t rely on him. Yes, she wants to make their own little family, but she doesn’t go out of her way to put her life on hold for Josh. She makes decisions based on what’s best for her and her little one to be.
Since Josh isn’t sure what his future holds in hockey as he ages, it puts a strain on his plans with Holly. They both have their own career plans and neither wants or should have to put their dreams on hold. That means that it takes a bit of navigation for them to learn how to juggle their relationship, careers, and new child.
Josh also doesn’t really know how to handle falling in love, since he’s never done it before. Holly also worries about Josh feeling pressured to stay around just for their child. Their happily ever after might take come extra time, but it’s worth the wait.
