Addressing the leaked Deadpool trailer on Twitter last night, star Ryan Reynolds said those who didn’t attend San Diego Comic-Con should stay tuned.
The very first Deadpool trailer debuted at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday night and received a standing ovation from diehard fans. Naturally, someone in the 6,500-seat Hall H was able to secretly record the trailer and managed to release a crappy version of it online. (But the leaked version sucks, so it’s not worth watching.)
Nonetheless, with anticipation so high, the leaked Deadpool trailer was posted on a few sites and went viral online. This led to the annual conversation on the internet about studios bringing special material to Comic-Con, and how they should prevent leaks. One popular answer: Release your material online straight away like Disney did with the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens preview.
Evidently Fox is not ready to release the Deadpool trailer, and for good reason: The version that premiered at Comic-Con has unfinished visual effects.
So when will we get an official release? Reynolds took to Twitter last night to confirm that something is coming in three weeks:
As much as I want the #deadpool footage from #SDCC officially released, the VFX shots aren't done yet. We have something for you in 3 weeks.

Reynolds didn’t confirm if the new footage we see in the weeks ahead will be the same material that premiered at Comic-Con, but considering how much everyone loved the footage, we think the studio would be wise to release the SDCC trailer after it’s been polished up.
The actor likely tweeted the tease to temper expectations about a release, and perhaps to make those who are on the fence about watching the leak to hold off.
Reynolds had a fun time at Comic-Con. Besides bringing the crowd to its feet with that Deadpool trailer, it looks like he also went under cover as Darth Vader to make it to the Fox panel in time:
Deadpool opens in theaters February 12, 2016.
Will you be watching the leaked ‘Deadpool’ trailer?
We won’t be posting it here, but we’re curious if temptation made you go look. Don’t worry, if you admit to it the studio won’t be coming after you.
