Dave Bautista returning to ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3’ even though it is ‘nauseating’
Dave Bautista confirmed he will be returning to Guardians of the Galaxy 3, even though he finds it “nauseating” without James Gunn.
While each of Marvel’s Guardians joined together on Instagram to show their support of director James Gunn (in addition to many others in Hollywood), it doesn’t seem likely that Disney will rehire Gunn to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3. While many of the fans are still at odds when it comes to declaring Gunn’s firing a good or bad idea, Drax himself, Dave Bautista, is incredibly upset that Gunn is gone.
Of course, the big question was whether or not Bautista would return to the franchise with Gunn out of the picture. The actor took to Twitter to share his intent to return, honoring his contract, though he isn’t happy about it.
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Bautista told a fan on Twitter that he’ll acquiesce to his legal obligations for Marvel, but that shooting the Guardians franchise without Gunn is not what he signed up for. Additionally, Bautista explains that he feels Gunn’s firing was unjust because it appeared that Disney was more concerned with bowing to the demands of “fascists” rather than supporting a good man.
And while there is much that could be said over whether or not Gunn’s firing was just or not (and much has already been said all over the internet), we’re happy to hear that Dave Bautista will be reprising his role as Drax in Guardians 3. It’s unclear if he plans to stay in the MCU after his contractual obligations end, but we’re happy to know that we’ve still got a little more time with the character.
