Darkwing Duck could be the next cartoon from your childhood to get the reboot treatment over at Disney+.
According to Variety, Disney+ is currently in the early process of developing a brand new reboot of the hit cartoon series, Darkwing Duck.
The original iteration of the beloved 90s cartoon initially aired on The Disney Channel for 91 episodes from 1991 to 1992. The hit cartoon series centered on Drake Mallard, who seemingly lives a normal suburban life by day, but secretly moonlights as the titular superhero by night.
The series also features another Disney fan favorite character in Launchpad McQuack, who many will undoubtedly know from the equally as beloved Disney cartoon series, TaleSpin. Launchpad serves as Darkwing Duck’s sidekick and the dynamic duo fight crime together, along with the occasional assist of Drake’s daughter, Gosalyn.
Behind the camera, the reboot is being executive produced by longtime creative partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Others who are also serving as producers on the project include James Weaver and Alex McAtee. The reboot is still on the hunt for a writer.
This is far from the first time that Disney has reached into the vault in an effort to resurrect some classic cartoons.
In 2017 the studio successfully rebooted Duck Tales, which is currently on its third season.
In addition, the studio is also currently in the process of working on a live-action adaptation of the late 80s cartoon series, Chip ’n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers.
As the Darkwing Duck reboot is currently in the early stages of development, there’s no word on when we might expect to see it premiere via Disney+.
