‘The Darkest Minds’ movie adaptation has found its Chubs

After months of casting announcements, The Darkest Minds film adaptation has finally added Chubs to the roster.

Back in September, we reported that Amandla Stenberg had been cast as Ruby. It took a while, but in January we learned Harris Dickinson was cast opposite as Liam, and in February we found out Miya Cech would be playing the adorable Zu.

Announcing it on his own Instagram page, Skylan Brooks broke the news that he will be playing Chubs in The Darkest Minds movie.

Author Alexandra Bracken offered her excitement on Facebook, confirming the casting news.

Skylan Brooks played Hoppy in Southpaw, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams. He also portrayed Ra-Ra in the Netflix Original Series The Get Down.

In July, we found out Jennifer Yuh Nelson would be making her live-action directorial debut with The Darkest Minds adaptation.

The story about a pandemic that wipes out the majority of the world’s children, and leaves the rest with superpowers. It’s a favorite with the hosts of Hypable’s Book Hype podcast.
