The first teaser for the film adaptation of Kevin Kwan’s book Crazy Rich Asians was just released, and the film looks absolutely gorgeous!
When it was announced that Kevin Kwan’s iconic novel Crazy Rich Asians would be turned into a film, we got excited. And then when the casting announcements of amazing actors like Michelle Yeoh, Constance Wu, Ken Jeong, and more were added to the list, we couldn’t wait to see what this movie had in store for us.
The film has been hyped for quite a while, with the film’s stars Constance Wu and Henry Golding gracing the cover of Entertainment Weekly back in November of 2017. But we finally have our first real look into the film with the release of the teaser trailer.
It’s definitely a super quick look at the film, and as is the trend these days, it also gets you psyched for the release of the first full-length trailer that will drop on April 23. However, despite the length of the clip, it gives us a great glimpse into the glamour and opulence we’ll get to see in the film, as well as the very human, heartfelt relationships that will be depicted onscreen.
The film follows Wu’s character, Rachel Chu, an everyday New Yorker who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding) for a wedding. However, when Rachel and Nick arrive, Rachel soon realizes that her boyfriend is not only crazy rich but is, as it’s said in the trailer, “the Prince Harry of Asia.”
Because of this, Nick is one of the most eligible bachelors in Singapore, and so many come along in the film to try to sabotage Rachel and Nick’s relationship. Crazy Rich Asians is set in a world of excess that many of us could never imagine, but the relationship between Nick and Rachel is so real and so human that the story becomes relatable to everyone, regardless of your economic situation.
We can’t wait to see more of this film. The trailer drops on April 23, and the film hits theaters on August 18.
