Clueless may soon be the next beloved film to get a big screen makeover.
According to Deadline, Paramount is currently working on a remake of the popular ’90s rom-com, Clueless.
Though the remake is still in early stages of development, it’s already got a few pretty notable names attached.
Girls Trip scribe Tracy Oliver is reportedly on board to produce. She’ll be teaming up with Marquita Robinson (best known for her writing work on Netflix’s Glow), who will serve as screenwriter on the film.
Written and directed by Amy Heckerling and loosely based off of Jane Austen’s Emma, the original Clueless debuted in 1995 and has since solidified its spot in pop culture history.

Details on the project are scarce at the moment so there’s no telling whether Oliver and Robinson will use Heckerling’s characters to bring their rendition of Clueless to life, or if they’ll focus their story on a new set of characters.
Personally, we’re hoping it’ll be the latter as it would be interesting to see how Oliver and Robinson would go about updating the story for a new generation of moviegoers.
That being said, fans of the rom-com looking for a new take on the original story will likely want to keep tabs on Clueless: The Musical.
The upcoming Off Broadway production, which is set to begin previews on November 20, will feature a book by Heckerling herself. As for the music, the stage production will rely on reimagined ’90s hits to move Cher Horowitz’s story along.
