A new clip from Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina teases the arrival of one of the most anticipated characters on the show: Salem the cat.

With teasers and full-length trailers released for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, fans of the witchy teenager have gotten a pretty good taste of what is to come from the spooky new show. Though the characters are largely the same, Netflix’s new show will certainly feel far-removed from the light-hearted ’90s sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart. Because of this, fans were incredibly curious how Chilling Adventures would treat the character of Sabrina’s confidant and familiar, Salem the cat.

Obviously, this cat won’t be the sassy and snarky cat we saw in the ’90s show, but Salem does have a pretty elaborate backstory in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comics. In a new clip released by Netflix, we get a small taste of what to expect from Sabrina’s feline familiar.

So while “Salem” does talk to her for a bit in its natural form, once transformed into a cat, Salem sticks pretty firmly to its feline nature. And unlike the Melissa Joan Hart series, this version of Salem will be played by several different cats rather than a mixture of cats and puppets.

Still, despite Salem’s more serious nature, don’t expect this cat to sit on the sidelines while Sabrina puts herself in mortal danger. As any good familiar would, Salem is always ready to help Sabrina vanquish the forces of evil, and will step into harm’s way if it means keeping Sabrina safe.

Everything we’ve seen so far from this show looks absolutely amazing, and we can’t wait to see the unique dynamic between Sabrina and Salem. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait much longer to check out this exciting new series. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina releases on Netflix just in time for your Halloween festivities on October 26.
