CBS is going all in on their streaming service, CBS All Access, and has revealed details on three new original series!
‘Strange Angel’:
Strange Angel is a drama series created by Mark Heyman and is based on a book of the same name by George Pendle. It is said to explore the, “dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction.”
Jack Parsons is the main character of the series who is described as a mysterious and brilliant man. The series takes place in Los Angeles during the 1940s. The series will show how Parsons, “helps birth the entirely unknown discipline of American rocketry, and by night is a performer of sex magick rituals and a disciple to occultist Aleister Crowley.”
‘No Activity’:
No Activity is a comedy series from Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Funny or Die. It will be the very first original comedy for CBS All Access. The series is said to celebrate the mundane in high stakes operations.
A description of the series reveals that it, “follows two low-level cops who have spent far too much time in a car together; two criminals who are largely kept in the dark; two dispatch workers who haven’t really clicked; and two Mexican tunnelers who are in way too small a space considering they’ve only just met.”
No Activity will debut before the year’s end between the two chapters of Star Trek: Discovery.
‘$1’:
$1 is a mystery/triller series set in a small rust belt town. There, a one-dollar bill connects a group of characters involved in a multiple murder! CBS describes the series as, “The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode paint a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed.”
$1 is created by Jason Mosberg with Matt DeRoss and Alexandre Dauman as executive producers. Craig Zobel will direct the series as well as act as a executive producer.
Updates on ‘The Good Fight’ and ‘Star Trek: Discovery’:
CBS also noted that The Good Fight season 2 will return in early 2018 with an expanded order of 13 episodes. It was also revealed today that Audra McDonald is joining the cast as a series regular!
Star Trek: Discovery will premiere September 24 on CBS and on the same night the first two episodes will be available on CBS All Access. The rest of the episodes will be released exclusively on the streaming service.
The first eight episodes will run from September 24 through November 5, and the rest of the episodes will be released starting in January 2018.
