On BTS Bon Voyage season 3, episode 7, “I Know What I Am,” the members had some more fun in the sea before looking back on their trip in Malta with photos and letters!
BTS ‘Bon Voyage’ season 3, episode 7 recap:
This week’s episode kicks off right where episode 6 ended, with the members out enjoying the nightlife in Malta. After going to see the big LOVE sign in Sliema, Namjoon and J-Hope try to find a place to get some drinks and spot an Irish pub nearby.
They do find seats in the busy pub and finally get to sit down and enjoy some beer together. Not without taking some cute selfies together, of course. The 94’s duo is already reflecting on all the fun they had during their trip and think this will show how much they’ve grown since their last one. But they still want to sound cool!
J-Hope and Namjoon also discuss their mixtapes, and how nervous they were about doing them. Despite the pressure they feel to do well with them, J-Hope wants to be able to relax more if he does another one and Namjoon says that’s why he’s trying to do with his second one (which actually just released last week – Mono)!
Of course we all know these boys work so hard on their music, and this candid conversation just proves it.
Jin leaves the restaurant after enjoying some more food and drinks alone, to head out on a walk. He randomly asks viewers about who would win in a fight a shark or a tiger. These are the thoughts he has as he walks alone in search of another place to go hang out.
When Jin arrives at his new bar, he’s quick to try and decide what he wants. And he can’t help but ask the staff if they know BTS and make some new friends. He chats with the cam as well, discussing how he gets the chance to travel through Bon Voyage since he’s usually too lazy to do it on his own.
Then Jin makes friends with the owner of the bar, Charles and they share a drink together. Charles teaches Jin how they say cheers in Malta and Jin teaches him how they say it in Korea. Then Charles remembers that they actually met on the first day the group arrived in Malta, and Jin asked him about the food at the restaurant. It looks like Jin can just make friends wherever he goes!
Though Jin wishes his English was better, he’s doing an amazing time communicating with the locals all by himself. “It is hard to explore without RM,” he laments. But I think Namjoon would be very proud to see how well he’s doing with all these conversations in English! He even gets the courage to ask for a selfie with Charles before he leaves – it might be the cutest thing ever.
Hilariously, when Jin gets back to the house he can’t remember the passcode to unlock the door. He has to ask the staff for help the get back in after failing to find the code on his phone where he thought he had saved it. But he tried acting like he did have the passcode in hopes that the crew would edit the scene out where he forgot. Sorry Jin, not this time.
Jimin and Taehyung are still enjoying some food and drinks and seem a little on the tipsy side. It seems like Jimin wants to see if he can get Taehyung to do some busking like Jungkook did early on in their trip. Tae does sing a song, but he does it sitting at their table.
When they leave and walk around the city some more, Jimin is able to spot some others busking. Taehyung is still nervous about how to ask them if he can do it but luckily the staff is there to help him. As soon as they get the okay, Taehyung gets into practice mode before he goes up.
Taehyung ends up singing “Sunday Morning” beautifully to the crowd who gives him great cheers when he’s done. And his number one fan Jimin recorded the scene faithfully. It seems that Taehyung had fun even though he was nervous with the crowd. To end their night, Jimin takes Taehyung to see the night view in a spot he found with Namjoon.
The golden maknae is back at the house alone, and instead of resting he’s getting ready to color his hair! Apparently this is his first time making an attempt doing it by himself, and he’s understandably nervous at how it will come out. It looks like he’s decided to just dye half of his hair to surprise the others with a crazy style.
When Jin arrives back at the house, he gets a look at the dye job Jungkook is doing. After he heads off to bed, Jungkook goes to wash off the dye and get a look at his new hair. It actually came out really well and he seems happy with the results!
The next day, the group is heading out for a fun day despite their long night out. J-Hope and Jungkook are the first ones out and get on the ferry to go to Sliema. Jimin and Taehyung are next and also jump on the ferry. Namjoon and Jin are together but decide to stay local for their meal.
Jimin and Taehyung end up stopping at a shop on the street to grab a snack while they search for somewhere to go. At first, they say they are full after eating their snacks. But as soon as they spot a McDonalds they want burgers. They enjoy a meal together and the air conditioning.
When J-Hope and Jungkook arrive at their restaurant they discover that brunch is over, so they’re stuck with the lunch menu. But after some recommendations from their friendly waiter they order some nachos, quesadillas, and tacos.
As they wait, the pair start to take some pictures of each other. Which makes Jungkook think of some shots he took of Suga before he had to leave and he shows them off to the camera. And J-Hope is sad he didn’t get to take any with Suga while he was there.
As Namjoon and Jin get ready to order, Namjoon realizes that he lost his money somewhere. Thanks to the staff’s footage we know that he dropped it out of his pocket when he pulled out his phone while walking. Good thing Jin still has his own money left over from the night before.
Jin ends up bringing up the topic of their special dinner and what he wants to wear. He must still be nervous about the others reactions because he tells Namjoon his plan with apprehension. But Namjoon just wonders why Jin would think he’d get mad.
In the afternoon the members join back together to try out flying boards on the water. They’re very nervous to try out the activity, even though they’ve done things like this in the past. After some reassurances from their teachers, the boys head out on the water to give it a try.
Namjoon and Jungkook are the first ones up while the others watch from the boat and giggle at them. After a few tries, Jungkook seems to get the hang of it and is able to get up pretty high and test out a spin trick. Namjoon has a little more trouble but is adorable trying anyways.
Jimin and Taehyung go next and both are quick to get the hang of it with the others shouting tips at them from the boat. They test out some spin moves and it looks like Taehyung might have found a new hidden talent!
Lastly, Jin and J-Hope get in the water and the screaming soon starts. Despite his earlier nervousness, J-Hope gets the hang of it pretty fast and starts to have fun with it. And Jin just continues to yell as he learns how to use it. At least he’s keeping everyone else entertained.
Once they’re back at the house, Jimin fills in the map with more pictures from their trip. They’re quick to point out the few pictures of Suga that they have, include a solo shot and one with Jin where they are wearing their I heart Malta shirts.
They each pick out their favorite pictures from the map. Namjoon chooses a group photo from their camping, Taehyung picks the same one, Jin picks the one from when they cooked dinner together the night Taehyung arrived, J-Hope picks a solo picture of himself which was the first one he took in Malta, Jungkook chooses the picture of himself driving.
Jimin wants to pick the only group picture they took with the seven of them but they think it’s on Suga’s phone so it’s not printed yet. After looking through all their pictures, the members sit down to write a letter to themselves. They all feel that it’s more difficult to write to themselves rather than others.
Next week the letters will be revealed, they go out to their special dinner, and reflect on their trip in Malta!
