It’s finally here! BTS’ 4th Muster Happy Ever After DVD set has arrived to fill ARMY’s hearts everywhere with the amazing content from the annual fan meeting!
BTS ‘4th Muster Happy Ever After’ – Disc 1:
The disc opens up with a short VCR titled Curious Incident in ARMY Bomb, which adorably shows how memories are made with the ARMY Bomb. Each member of BTS shows how they help make these memory clouds. First RM works as the recipe messenger who prints out the list of ingredients. Then J-Hope works as the compounder, taking the recipe from RM and getting all the ingredients ready. Next, Chef V puts them all together and makes the memory cloud.
But they’re not done yet! To make sure it’s good, Jin works as the taster. Then they go off to Jungkook who works as the decorator. Suga is in charge of labelling the memories, and finally Jimin keeps them all organized as the curator. The whole video is adorable and is sure to draw all the awwws from fans.
Next the boys arrive to the stage, coming up and out of a giant ARMY bomb. Dressed in coordinating grey school-ish outfits, BTS goes right into a performance of “24/7=heaven.” The song allows them to mostly move around freely on the stage and interact with their fans. It’s a cute song to follow up the adorable VCR.
As the group moves through the crowds on moving clouds they flawlessly perform “Like pt. 1” and eventually move back onto the stage for “Like pt. 2” for some choreography. Both of which keep the same mood, which is light and fun.
Then they take a break from performing to introduce themselves and welcome everyone to BTS 4th Muster Happy Ever After. Each member does their introductions as well, with great greetings from the crowd and it doesn’t take long for the boys to start their giggle fits.
They also reveal that they’re going to divulge all the secrets of the ARMY bombs, since they’re the fairies that came from them. The first secret, that Jin reveals is that all memories from BTS and ARMY are stored in the ARMBY bombs. The second secret, which comes from J-Hope, is that the memory clouds are made by the fairies. The third secret, from Jungkook, is that whenever you shake the bombs they get dizzy. Which they even show off and tease that ARMY’s are shaking the bombs too hard.
They also spend some time thanking fans for making all of their great memories a reality. Then they bring out some of the memories, which have carefully been made and packaged by the fairies. They point out some of the labels, like History of Two Wings, BTS Dating Sims, The Day Yeontan Came, Sope Debut, The Birth of Chim Chim, 100th Day Since Debut, and more! There’s so many for them to choose from that they have a hard time narrowing it down! Poor V ends up being the last one to make up his mind and grab a memory.
First, RM reveals his memory and it shows off a clip of their times at American music awards. He also mentions his feature with Fall Out Boy which he thanks ARMY for.
Jimin is next and he chose 3rd Muster ARMY .ZIP+ because he says it was the most important memory on the wall! Of course, Suga can’t help but bring up the memorable unit stage he did with Jimin that day and the others try to tease him into to singing a bit of it. They also remember V, Jin, and J-Hope’s unit stage which was a cute kids BTS song they did. As well the ARMY bomb wave they loved, which Suga then recreates with the crowd.
Suga reveals his memory but somehow the videos get messed up and it looks like J-Hope’s memory ends up playing. The clip reveals a card game that J-Hope and Jimin were playing, since J-Hope lost he said he would be Jimin’s dongsaeng forever. They even make him prove it by having him call Jimin hyung – even though in reality J-Hope is older than Jimin.
This part was a bit confusing because of the mix up, but I actually appreciate that they didn’t try to edit around it. That means that fans that are watching the DVD really are getting the same experience as those at the event.
Suga’s clip does actually play next, which is an audio clip of someone asking him to do the cutesy and he replies, “Hip hop doesn’t allow cutesy.” He amends his statement now, saying that hip hop might not allow cutesy but he does! Then fans are treated to some of his infamous aegyo, which RM says is the cutest he’s ever seen from Suga. They then play a clip of some of his other cute aegyo moments, which leads to a battle with Jimin.
The next memory is of an interview they did in which Jungkook said he overpowers V and the other members with his strength. Though they disagree with this statement, Jungkook is easily able to show just how strong his is.
Devoted reader card memory is next and they randomly chose cards from fans to read. In a hilarious moment, Jin reads a card which says he is beautiful. The members think he’s making it all up so they get up to check his card only for it to really be what was written. RM gets a card from an ARMY in her 40s and it’s nice to see older fans appreciated! V’s card wishes that the vocalists and rappers would switch songs, and the rap line jumps up to show off their singing skills. The vocal line is maybe a little shyer to try rapping, especially Jimin.
Their next memory is of best stage costumes, and V chooses the ones they’re wearing now. Suga liked their debut stage outfits, and RM chimes in that he’d try those again. J-Hope liked their outfits from “MIC Drop” and Jin agrees — and so do I! Jungkook liked “Blood Sweat & Tears” because his shirt was loose fitting.
They also take the chance to change into some special outfits which are animal onesies! You really haven’t lived until you’ve seen grown men in cute animal outfits doing a runway. V is dressed as a kangaroo, Jin a monkey, J-Hope a rabbit, Jimin a dragon, Suga is a sugar glider, RM a shark, and Jungkook is a carrot! I haven’t even watched all the DVDs yet and I’m pretty sure this is going to my favorite part.
Okay, I spoke too soon because next they perform “I Need U” in their costumes and this is definitely my favorite part. It’s easy to see how much fun they’re having and that makes it even better. Some people might prefer to see them put on more technical choreography, but I always like watching their dances when they’re having fun the best.
They change outfits into look that are more of street wear and perform “Come Back Home,” “No More Dream,” and “MIC Drop” to show off their more hip hop side. This just shows the groups duality, how they’re able to switch from these softer/funny moments, and then show off their harder/edgier side. Also, I’ll never be over how amazing the choreography for “MIC Drop” is no matter how much time passes.
Another VCR of the ARMY bomb fairies shows the members making a special memory, and Suga, Jimin, and V stealing some ingredients. When RM and Jungkook join them, they try the ingredients which give them the giggles, tears, and then special charm. They love the special charms so much that they mix it into a memory when J-Hope isn’t looking. But it looks like they might have over done it and Jin gets knocked out when he tries the memory with all the special charm.
BTS ‘4th Muster Happy Ever After’ – Disc 2:
The stage comes back with a skit of Jin passed out from the memory mixture the fairies made with too much special ingredient. The rest of the members circle around him, and try to figure out what happened. When Jin wakes, he explains what they did to him. He wants them all to say nice things in order to help him get up, but it’s not until J-Hope offers him pocket money that he pops up.
They then re-create getting more ingredients for the recipes with the help of the ARMYS in the crowd. J-Hope and Jimin get love, RM and V get anger, Jungkook gets excitement, and Jin and Suga get amazement. It’s a cute moment that I’m sure was lots of fun to do live, but I did find it to be a touch long to watch on video.
To thank the ARMYS for helping them, they give them the gift of more performances. They start with “21st Century Girl” which is one of my personal favorites to see them put on. It’s an underrated bop and the choreography is another fun one to watch! They also perform “Go” and integrate hilarious face filters during their dance. Then they put on the ever popular “DNA” which is equally entertaining.
The next VCR they played was the Guardians of the ARMY Bomb, which featured Jungkook and V as fanboys who get scolded for liking BTS. Luckily for them, the guardians arrive to help. They save Jungkook’s character from a mean boss, and help V get fan meeting tickets. Really, the best part of this video was seeing the members dressed up with giant ARMY bombs on their heads.
For their last round of performances, BTS starts off with “Pied Piper” which really shows off the skills of the vocal line while allowing them to move around the stage and interact with fans for most of the song. It was also their first time showing off the choreography they do at the end, RM and Jungkook even do it a second time for ARMY.
They talk about filming as guardians of the bomb and it sounds they had a lot of fun doing that one. Apparently the bomb hats were a surprise and they weren’t expecting them to be so large. Each member also gives their final thoughts on the 4th Muster, and it’s their messages to fans that really makes BTS so special. It’s always clear how much they really love and adore their fans.
Finally, they perform “Best of Me” to close out the special event with their fans. It feels like the perfect way for them to have closed out the show, with a special message for ARMY through their lyrics. It’s also another chance for them to show off how skilled they are at doing their vocals and rapping while hitting all their choreography.
They close out the show by saying their goodbyes to the crowd and going back to the ARMY bomb to make their exit.
Disc 2 also include the behind the scenes footage from BTS shooting their images for the event. Which is basically a mixture of them showing off their visuals and then being silly in between shoots. They have to take solo pictures, unit shots, and group shots, so it’s two long days for the members!
But they keep themselves entertained by teasing each other and some members show off their photobombing skills. And would these DVD’s be complete without a game of rock papers scissors? The members use their special form of democracy to make decisions about who gets to shoot their photos first.
BTS ‘4th Muster Happy Ever After’ – Disc 3:
Finally, onto the third disc which has the behind the scenes footage for the films and practices – which usually hold some of the best scenes in my opinion!
First up, the practice and rehearsal film shows how nervous the boys were in preparation for the 4th Muster Happy Ever After since they were so busy and had limited time to practice. The boys still can’t help but get a little silly, even with the stress of learning new choreography.
Watching them learn the choreography for “Pied Piper” was funny, with some of the members struggling a bit to work on their body rolls. But even Suga, who isn’t the biggest fan of having to dance, has fun during practice. They all make it fun by playing around with the moves and teasing each other.
Honestly there are too many funny parts during practice to mention them all but the whole thing had me smiling all the way through. It’s great to see the boys in their element and just goofing around with each other.
By the end of their first practice, they’ve worked hard and still have more work to do to prepare. Their next practice is the fan meeting run-through and the boys show up in their fluffy winter jackets (they’re filming this in January) ready to go through their scripts.
They talk a bit about the other things they’ve been busy with, their year-end show and J-Hope’s mixtape which was still being finished up. Luckily, they get to sit down and enjoy some snacks while they run through the scripts.
Eventually they do have to get up to run through some of the choreography when the time calls for it. They also have fun practicing collecting the emotions from ARMY for the Inside Out game and its cute to see how excited they are to do it live. And the perfectionists in them worries about getting everything perfect before the show.
Finally, they go through a practice run at Gocheok Sky Dome with their wardrobe for the first time. They also get to see the finished VCRs that they filmed and practice their skits with the video clips. It’s even hilarious to see them practicing changing into their animal onesies, which gets them laughing again.
During the VCR shooting, the members film some scenes together first in their bright and colorful outfits. The great thing about watching them filming is getting to see how they have fun with each other even while working. It’s also a chance to see how much time and energy they put into each of these videos they make for their fans.
The teasing is quick to start as they wonder who might cry at this year’s Muster and recall times others have in the past. Jin also gets embarrassed when he has a close-up and has to let Jungkook and V watching him.
Some of the funnier moments during their memory cloud filming is the younger ones cracking up at Suga’s acting skills, RM turning into destruction monster once again and breaking part of his set by accident, J-Hope just being everyone’s sunshine, V trying to make cotton candy, Jin being self-conscious about his acting, Jungkook playing with his props, and Jimin wanting everyone to know that he’s just pretending not to be able to reach the jars.
On the next VCR shoot Jungkook and V act as ARMY while the other members dress up as ARMY bomb fairies to protect them. Basically the best part of this is seeing the group while those giant ARMY bomb hats on their head. Like, how did they even walk around let alone act seriously?
My favorite parts from this shooting are V shows off how hard it is to walk through doors with the ARMY hats, the members complaining they can’t hear anything, Jungkook showing off his excitement about his G.C.F. film going online, sleepy RM, Suga playing his uncle role again, and Jimin getting stuck going through a door for real.
The D-Day making film starts off with their final practice before the show. They also get to play around with the new ARMY bombs for the first time and are amazed by the features. An hour before the show starts they have to go through hair, makeup, and get dressed in their first outfits.
They also get to look at the poster for the event which features little items that are special to the group. When given the chance to show what they would have added Suga draws his dog Holly, J-Hope draws his BT21 character Mang, Jin draws RJ, RM draws Koya, Jimin draws an accessory for the calico cat, V draws his dog Yeontan, and Jungkook draws a camera.
Fan questions before the show reveal some more tidbits about the members like Suga’s favorite birthday gift was a letter from Jimin, V recalls a time where they celebrating his birthday all together, J-Hope explains his love of bags because of how he can fit everything inside, Jungkook’s plans to learn piano, Jin’s love of teasing Jungkook, RM says J-Hope affects his dialect the most, and Jimin’s worries about making fans feel closer to them.
They also show some more moments from the 4th Muster Happy Ever After that didn’t make it into the first two discs. As well as seeing their transitions behind the stage in between songs that you don’t usually get to see. There’s also additional behind the scenes moments from their second day which shows some of the differences in the two shows.
Along with the DVDs or Blu-rays, the sets also come with a photobook, postcard, and photocard! The boxset can be purchased directly from Big Hit Entertainment and can be shipped internationally. It’s a great way for international ARMY to get to see the events of the fan meeting and still feel the love from BTS for their fans.
