A law suit has officially been filed against director Bryan Singer for allegedly raping a 17-year old boy in Seattle in 2003.
News of the lawsuit put forth against the director comes just days after we learned that Singer has officially been fired from the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.
In a news article published on Thursday (December 7), Variety provided a detailed summary of what the lawsuit entails.
The lawsuit was brought forth by Singer’s alleged victim, Cesar Sanchez-Guzman, who accused the director of raping him on a yacht in Seattle back in 2003.
In the lawsuit, Sanchez-Guzman says the director forced him to perform oral sex before forcibly performing oral sex on the minor, and then anally penetrating him.
In addition to detailing the acts that took place, the report also reveals that Singer allegedly tried to use his status as a high profile producer in Hollywood in order to persuade Sanchez-Guzman to keep quiet.
First, the lawsuit details that Singer told the victim that he could help him break into the business as long as he didn’t say anything about the incident. According to the lawsuit, Singer also told Sanchez-Guzman that it wouldn’t matter if he said anything anyway.
“He then told Cesar that no one would believe him if he ever reported the incident, and that he could hire people who are capable of ruining someone’s reputation,” reads the lawsuit according to Variety.
A representative for Singer put forth a statement on behalf of the director later Tuesday evening saying Singer “categorically denies these allegations and will vehemently defend this lawsuit to the very end.”
This isn’t the first time Singer has been accused of sexually assaulting young boys. In 2014, two of Singer’s former victims came forward claiming that the director had sexually assaulted them when they were underage.
Both men dropped their lawsuits against Singer in the summer of 2014, and given the string of projects Singer has lined up since then, it seems as though Hollywood has swept the matter under the proverbial rug.
Now that another victim has come forth having experienced something similar, however, the allegations against Singer will undoubtedly be harder to ignore.
