‘Bombshell’ teaser gives first look at the real life scandal at Fox News

Watch the Bombshell teaser, which features Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie taking the world’s most tense elevator ride ever.

The Bombshell teaser trailer is a mere one minute and twenty second, and features little more than the three leads — Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie — take a stiflingly quiet and incredibly tense elevator ride together.

But that’s more than enough time to get us interested in the upcoming film.

Bombshell is based on the real-life sexual harassment scandal at Fox News and the downfall of Roger Ailes.

Though this is the second piece of media this year focusing on Roger Ailes — the other being Showtime’s limited series The Loudest Voice, with Russell Crowe playing Ailes — it will focus more on the women who fought back against Ailes rather than Ailes himself.

Check out the teaser below!

Bombshell features Nicole Kidman as Gretchen Carlson and Charlize Theron (nearly unrecognizable thanks to some fantastic and subtle makeup work!) as Megyn Kelly, two former Fox News personalities who took a stand against the sexual harassment and repugnant behavior of Roger Ailes, here played by John Lithgow.

Margot Robbie rounds out the main cast as Kayla Pospisil, a fictional Fox News associate producer who was created specifically for this movie.

Joining the three ladies is quite a laundry list of talent and prestige — there’s Connie Britton as Beth Ailes, Spencer Garrett as Sean Hannity, Allison Janney as Susan Estrich, Malcolm McDowell as Rupert Murdoch, Mark Duplass as Douglas Brunt, Alice Eve as Aisnley Earhardt, and Stephen Root as Neil Cavuto.

Bombshell was written by Charles Randolph, who wrote Love & Other Drugs as well as The Big Short. It was directed by Jay Roach, who is perhaps best known for his comedic directing work on the Austin Powers films and Meet the Parents but whose most recent work have been political dramas for HBO — Recount (2008), Game Change (2012) and All the Way (2016).

Bombshell will be released on December 20.
