We preview Black Lightning 1×10 “Sins of the Father: The Book of Redemption,” which airs Tuesday, March 27.
The synopsis for “Sins of the Father: The Book of Redemption” reads:
SECRETS AND LIES – Black Lightning (Cress Williams) attempts to rescue several long-missing children reveals a secret he did not anticipate, and its resulting connections. Gambi (James Remar) struggles to stay strong while in a compromising position. Jefferson begins to view things differently. Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain, Christine Adams, Marvin Jones III and Damon Gupton also star. The episode was written by Pat Charles and directed by Eric Laneuville (#110).
Here are five teases to get you ready for the episode:
Jennifer’s powers are further explored
Jennifer’s fascinating arc in which she, unlike Anissa, has no interest in being a metahuman continues in “Sins of the Father.” Jefferson must convince Jennifer that, even if she doesn’t want to be a hero, she needs to learn to control her abilities as much for her safety as other people’s.
To that end, Lynn runs some tests on her youngest daughter in the hope of discovering what exactly her power is and how it functions. While Anissa thinks Jennifer has inherited her father’s abilities after Jennifer accidentally fries a pillow, the tests show something else entirely.
Two-Bits makes his triumphant return
Jefferson’s old friend, Two-Bits, returns in this episode to interact both with Jefferson and Black Lightning. As in his first appearance as a Green Light dealer who tries to take a selfie with Black Lightning, Two-Bits is hilarious.
It’s clear Jefferson has a soft spot for his old friend — even as Black Lightning, he is trying to get Two-Bits to get his life together. Plus, Two-Bits also proves that he has a moral code, as it’s his intel that sets Jefferson into motion.
Jefferson tries to take Malik under his wing
Another person Jefferson wants to help get his life together is Malik, Lala’s former protege. When we last saw him, he was shooting Jennifer with fake blood as a threat for her to keep her mouth shut about her kidnapping. That seems like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it?
Anyway, Jefferson continues trying to make things better in Freeland as Jefferson rather than just Black Lightning when he offers to mentor Malik, who lost the monetary support he needs for his grandmother when Lala disappeared. Jefferson makes some promises, and it’s left up to Malik whether he will take Jefferson’s offer.
Lala gets back in the game
With Tobias out of the picture after getting shot — and losing his sister — in a confrontation with Black Lightning, the newly resurrected Lala is taking it upon himself to fill the leadership void in The 100.
He is still seeing ghosts, though this week it’s not LaWanda, but his lackeys are forced to ignore him talking to thin air when his sheer brutality and lack of concern for his own life prove how dangerous defying him is.
The ASA has dug its claws deep into Freeland
After Black Lightning and Thunder try — and fail — to rescue the kids in the pods that Gambi discovered, the ASA steps up its efforts to stop Black Lightning. This puts Gambi in danger, which forces Jefferson to confront his anger at his surrogate father.
Moreover, it turns out that Gambi is not the only familiar face with ties to the ASA.
