Birds of Prey ’s newest trailer features the backstory of the team up, all the ladies kicking ass, and Harley being Harley.
The first Birds of Prey trailer introduced us all to our new favorite girl gang, while still mostly focusing on Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
This made sense, given that most of the general audience would be primarily or only aware of, and interested in, the infamous partner of the Joker. It allowed casual and potential fans to buy in to the upcoming movie, while also giving a peak at the rest of the Birds of Prey roster, as well as the big bads of the film.
However, with the release of the movie now a month away, the second trailer spotlights the rest of the Birds of Prey crew — Huntress, Black Canary, Detective Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain — while also providing a plot summary via Harley Quinn voiceover as to the nature and reasoning behind the team up.
Check out the newest trailer below and prepare to be wowed by the Birds of Prey!
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) features the aforementioned emancipation of Harley Quinn from her psychotic boyfriend, The Joker. We see her (not) taking the breakup well, and learn that she’s in the crosshairs of the villainous Romon Sionis, aka Black Mask.
However, then we see her finding camaraderie, and hopefully stability, when she ends up teaming up with other women who have likewise crossed paths with Roman — Dinah Lance aka Black Canary, Helena Bertinelli aka Huntress, Detective Renee Montoya and Cassandra Cain — and are working together to take him down.
Margot Robbie plays Harley Quinn, Jurnee Smollett-Bell plays Dinah Lance/Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays Helena Bertinella/Huntress, Rosie Perez plays Renee Montoya, Ella Jay Basco plays Cassandra, with Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis/Black Mask and Chris Messina as Victor Szasz. Cathy Yan directs from a script by Christina Hodson.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) will be released in theaters on February 7, 2020.
