Wether people like it or not, romantic comedies are here to stay! In fact, they seem to be making a great come back in 2018!
While there are still some great rom-com classics from the past, fans of these films are starting to see more come out with the thanks of Netflix originals.
We’ve compiled a list of our favorite rom-coms from Hollywood and Netflix, all of which you can view right now on Netflix in 2018!

‘Leap Year’
According to Irish tradition, women can propose to their boyfriends on April 29. Anna decides to go to Dublin to propose to her boyfriend of nearly four years. She has a little trouble getting there, so she enlists the help of Irish-native Declan to guide her through the country.
Not only do we get to see Adam Scott as the bad guy in Leap Year, but we also get sexy accents, beautiful Irish landscapes, and plenty of romance.
’13 Going on 30′
After wishing she could skip her awkward junior high school years, Jenna wakes up as a 30-year-old woman. As she discovers what her life is like as an adult, she realizes she’s lost touch with her best friend, Matty, and with herself.
This movie is just as much about self-love as it is about romantic love. Jenna finds out who she really cares about and how to be herself.
‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’
Andie Anderson writes “how to” columns for Composure magazine. When she takes on an article about “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” she meets Ben. He has a plan of his own, and no matter what she does to drive him away, he won’t break up with her.
I watched this movie for the first time this week and I can’t believe I had been missing out this whole time. The outlandish things Andie does to drive Ben away are cringe-worthy but impossible to look away from.
‘A Cinderella Story’
Sam has been texting a mystery boy and plans to finally meet up with him at the Halloween school dance. Like the original Cinderella, she’s overworked and underappreciated by her stepmother and looks forward to the day she’s finally free.
This Hillary Duff movie is nothing short of iconic. It has humor and love in all the right doses. Jennifer Coolidge and Regina King are the perfect evil stepmother and fairy godmother to Duff’s Cinderella.
‘Naked’
Rob is about to marry the woman of his dreams, but every time she makes it down the aisle, he wakes up naked in an elevator. He lives his wedding day over and over until he can find out how to make the day perfect.
Netflix has plenty of classic romcoms to stream, but they also have a few original movies that fit the bill. Naked is one of my favorite Netflix originals. The way it plays with time travel isn’t confusing or overbearing. It is just plain funny.
‘When We First Met’
If you’re looking for a newer romantic comedy, that still feels like some of the classics, you’ll definitely want to check out When We First Met. The Netflix original stars Adam Devine, Alexandra Daddario, Shelley Hennig, Robbie Amell, and Andrew Bachelor. Not only is the cast hilarious, but they all have great chemistry with one another.
The movie features a story about loving your best friend, traveling in time to try and change the future, and some unexpected twists that keep everything interesting! And if you’ve already seen this one, now might be the time for a re-watch.
‘The Kissing Booth’
If High School romances are your thing, The Kissing Booth just might be too! Elle and Lee are best friends that have been close since they were just little babies. Sometimes having the opposite sex as a best friend can be complicated, so they set up a list of rules to make sure that things never change between them.
The most important rule? Elle can never act on her attraction to Lee’s older brother Flynn! When Lee and Elle plan a kissing booth as part of a school fundraiser, suddenly it gets harder for Elle to follow the carefully laid plans.
‘Sleeping With Other People’
Because this one is a little more explicit than some other romantic comedies, it’s often passed by. But Sleeping With Other People is definitely a must watch for any adults that are looking for a great comedy that’s also real about the complications of love (and sex).
The movie stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie who keep viewers thoroughly entertained the whole way through. Just don’t expect a squeaky clean happily ever after with this one!
‘I Love You, Man’
Let’s be real, platonic relationships are just as important as romantic ones. And that’s why this bromance comedy made our list! I Love You, Man tells the story of recently engaged Peter who has just realized that he doesn’t have any close friends to be his best man. He’s a great fiancé but totally awkward when it comes to connect with other men.
Until he meets Sydney and they just hit it off! Starring Jason Segel, Paul Rudd, and Rashida Jones the movie is always good for laughs. And it might be a great compromise if your significant other complains about having to watch a rom-com!
