Benedict Cumberbatch is a busy man, between Sherlock, Star Trek, The Hobbit, and now Marvel’s Doctor Strange.

Jumping from one massive genre franchise to another must be pretty awesome confusing, and evidently, it’s hard to keep the fandom references straight.
At Disney’s D23 Expo, Marvel president Kevin Feige introduced a short video message from Cumberbatch during which he previews his Doctor Strange role… except he opens with a Vulcan salute! Check it out:
In the video, Cumberbatch says he’s, “Very lucky and very excited” to be taking on the character of Doctor Strange.

“He’s an extraordinary character, and brings in a whole other dimension… hmm, multiple dimensions, to the Marvel Universe.”
The dimension thing should be taken very literally. In the comics, Doctor Strange is a former neurosurgeon, who serves as the Sorcerer Supreme, the primary protector of Earth against magical and mystical threats.
Marvel’s Doctor Strange is just over a year away, set to hit cinemas on November 4, 2016.
It is directed by Scott Derrickson, a horror film director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still and Deliver Us From Evil.
Earlier this month we reported that Rachel McAdams was in talks to join Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange, but we still don’t know which role she might play, if she indeed ends up signing on for the movie.
