Sigourney Weaver, who’s somehow still a part of James Cameron’s Avatar franchise, has revealed that the sequels are heading into production soon.
Nearly 10 years after the stunning, 3D-gamechanger Avatar premiered, and the sequels are still in the early phases of production. (Seriously, there were like three Spider-Man reboots and two Fantastic Fours in the same timespan.)
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Sigourney Weaver can confirm that filming is set to begin this year, saying, “We’re starting! We’re starting training, and we’re starting — hmm, I probably can’t say anything. We will be actually shooting it by the fall.”
That means the second installment won’t be ready for 2018, but hold on to your ikrans, because according to Weaver, “These scripts are so amazing, I’m not worried about [disappointing fans] at all. Am I worried about how we’re going to bring them to life? Yes, because they’re so ambitious. They’re so worth it. They’re well worth waiting for. I’m not worried about that at all. We’re trying to get it done as quickly as possible.”
We hope so, because we’re getting four more of these movies whether we like it or not.
Also returning are Sam Worthington and Zoë Saldana, the first movie’s leads.
