The Artemis Fowl series steered clear of the box office during the rise of the Harry Potter franchise. But finally, Artemis and his unique world of magical creatures finally gets the live-action treatment this summer.
It’s high time for the series, which expertly integrates advanced technology, espionage, and a healthy does of magic, to reintroduce itself to audiences old and new. In fact, I believe that this is the perfect time for Artemis Fowl to make a comeback. As readers (and viewers) are devouring nostalgia-driven content, a movie and a newly announced spin off series, The Fowl Twins, featuring Artemis’ twin brothers Myles and Beckett, are the perfect gateway back into this universe.
Since the debut of Artemis Fowl in 2001, Eion Colfer’s series published for the next decade resulting in a total of eight books. The course charted for Artemis isa captivating tale of a young boy, hardened by the world, but who finds himself becoming a part of something bigger than he ever imagined. By the time you crack the spine on The Last Guardian, I can guarantee you’ll be glad to have taken the journey with Artemis and the colorful cast of characters in Colfer’s novels.
While these books have a loyal following, the first wave of readers are now old enough to either rediscover with their won children or pass it along to others looking to escape into a rich world.
Here are some ways to share the joy of the series with others!
- Give the books (and a movie pass) as a gift: Tell the reader that you want to be able to share the story (and film) with them!
- Ask your library to set up a display: There is plenty of time before the film’s release for a book to film feature display!
- Make a contest: This can also be done with your local library, or circle of friends or family. See who can finish all eight books before the film hit theaters this summer!
- Leave a review on Goodreads: Reviews matter, even if the series is 18 years old! Help a reader on the edge choose this series!
- Tweet about it: Ah, the wonders of modernity! Who knows, someone might stumble upon the hashtag and sees what people are talking about!
