The trailer for ‘The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey’ has already blasted its way into the media, scoring millions off views within days of being online, but fans and casual movie-goers alike are not the only ones to have noticed the potential for this long-awaited epic…

Ladbrokes (betting company) have prefaced odds of 1-2 for the first instalment of ‘The Hobbit’ to rake in more than the $1.1 billion amassed by the last Lord of the Rings film in the series: Return of the King. They also proposed odds of 3-1 for the film to scoop 11 or more Oscars. Although an outrageously confident bid on the part of Ladbrokes, it cannot be ruled out; given the success that the franchise has seen previously with the prestigious awards.

What do you think? Will the Hobbit be able to live up to expectations? Or is it simply an addition to a series which has already exhausted its potential?
