Looks like Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino have landed on the subject of their next original series at Amazon.
Showrunners Amy Sherman-Paladino and Dan Paladino may still be riding on the high of their Emmy Award-winning series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have time to work on other projects.
The dynamic duo that also brought us Gilmore Girls recently inked an exclusive deal with Amazon Studios, and it looks as though they’re already working on another original series as part of that deal.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has secured the rights for author Mary Gabriel’s Ninth Street Women for the Palladinos, who will in turn adapt the book into a series.
Gabriel’s book, which was first published in September 2018, focuses on five women (Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Grace Hartigan, Joan Mitchell, and Helen Frankenthaler) breaking into the male-dominated world of 20th century abstract art as artists, not muses.
Per THR’s description, “these women changed American art and society, tearing up the prevailing social code and replacing it with a doctrine of liberation.”
There’s currently no word on when we can expect the series to hit Amazon Prime. Regardless, it’s exciting to hear that the Palladinos are hitting the ground running when it comes to their overall deal with the studio.
As for Mrs. Maisel, fans can expect to see season 3 pop up on Amazon prime sometime later this year.
