Ryan Murphy will be expanding the American Horror Story franchise with an anthology spinoff series titled American Horror Stories.
Murphy confirmed the American Horror Story spinoff in an Instagram post about a zoom call with the cast of the horror anthology show.
In it, he referenced that the spinoff series would be called American Horror Stories, and would be a companion to the mothership series.

The spinoff series will consist of one-hour contained episodes — with each episode being standalone ghost story — and, according to insider sources, will also air on FX.
The news of this AHS spinoff series comes on the heels of the announcement that production on the upcoming tenth season of AHS may be pushed back for an entire year.
“A lot of what I was going to shoot was dependent on a very specific moment,” Murphy said in an interview with The Wrap. “It was a weather-dependent show. So now I don’t know. I don’t know what we’re going to do. I don’t know what I’m gonna do next with that show. I don’t know if I’ll accelerate another season or wait till next year to shoot this one.”
The horror anthology show has used every season to explore a different horror genre and setting, giving fans a season set in a haunted house, an insane asylum, within a witches coven and inside a travelling freak show.
The show was recently renewed for three more seasons at FX, though it’s currently unknown when the 10th season will premiere.
