Ryan Murphy adds yet another actor from his collection of friends to the bill for American Horror Story: Freak Show this fall.
Matt Bomer is set to join the cast of American Horror Story: Freak Show for the fourth installment of the series. After appearing on Glee as the swoon-worthy mega talented Cooper Anderson, Matt Bomer went on to star in the Murphy-directed The Normal Heart, delivering an Emmy nomination-worthy performance as Felix Turner.
Although Bomer is committed to film Magic Mike 2, Murphy is willing to work with the star to balance schedules. American Horror Story: Freak Show films in New Orleans. At the Entertainment Weekly Emmy party Murphy revealed, “I try to get him to do everything for me. I sent him a text that said, ‘First right of refusal, here’s the role.’ It’s very…warped.”
Knowing Murphy, the role is not something Bomer’s experience on White Collar or Glee could have prepared him to do.
Bomer joins Wes Bently, guest starring as Eddie, a character who goes head to head with Kathy Bates. Patti LaBelle and Jyoti Amge, the world’s smallest woman, are also slated as guest stars for the series.
The official synopsis of the show, released earlier this week reads:
American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience.
