American Gods has officially kicked off filming for their third season, and the groundbreaking show has added two new cast members.
American Gods is officially back in production, and as the show kicks off filming of its third season, we are welcoming a few new faces to the bunch. New characters Chad Mulligan and Ms. World will be joining the heavenly team.
Ms. World will be played by Dominique Jackson. You may remember Mr. World from the first seasons of American Gods as the leader of the New Gods. Because of his role, he must adapt and take on new forms as needed, and this season he’s taking on a feminine form as Ms. World.
This season, World will be seeking to control a new piece of technology that has the power to completely dominate human’s attention if it is brought online. Naturally, this would be a huge get for World, as attention in this modern era is worship.
On the more human side of things, Chad Mulligan is the Chief of Police in the sleepy town of Lakeside, Wisconsin. His normal life of mediating minor disputes between residents is turned upside down when a teenage girl goes missing, sparking huge paranoia in his hometown.
American Gods follows the conflict between the “Old Gods” of the mythological era and the “New Gods” of modern technology. For the past two seasons, we’ve followed ex-con Shadow Moon as he’s followed his mysterious boss Mr. Wednesday (aka the Norse All-Father Odin) across the country.
This season, as the official American Gods synopsis explains, we follow Shadow as he attempts to break away and assert himself as his own man, setting down roots in the idyllic snowy town of Lakeside, Wisconsin, where he’ll uncover a dark secret while exploring questions of his own divinity. Guided on this spiritual journey by the gods of his Black ancestors, the Orishas, Shadow must decide exactly who he is — a god seeking veneration or a man in service of the “we.”
We can’t wait to see how this new adventure plays out, and we can’t wait to see Ms. World and Chad Mulligan in action. The new season of American Gods will have 10, one-hour episodes, and filming has officially begun!
