More Adventure Time is coming down the pipeline over at HBO Max!
On Tuesday (August 17), HBO Max announced that it has officially ordered an all new animated series set to expand on the world first introduced by the hit Cartoon Network series.
Titled Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake, the new animated series will focus on the titular Fionna— a sword-wielding adventurer, and her best friend and talking cat, Cake.
Together, the dynamic duo, along with the help of the former Ice King, Simon Petrikov, will embark on a multi-verse hopping journey of self-discovery.
Threatening the adventure is a powerful new antagonist determined to track the down and erase them from existence.
HBO Max has ordered ten episodes of the half-hour young adult animated series to start.
Behind the scenes Adam Muto will serve as showrunner and executive producer on Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake.

In a statement announcing the series’ development, HBO Max’s SVP of Comedy and Original Animation spoke of how excited the streamer is to work with Cartoon Network Studios to bring fans of the original series an all new show to sink their teeth into.
“Aventure Time truly broke the mold and earned legions of passionate fans in the process,” said Billy Wee. “We are thrilled to partner with our friends at Cartoon Network Studios to continue innovating and expanding the Adventure Time universe with this world class team.”
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Fionna and Cake debut.
Coming up next, fans can look forward to Wizard City— the fourth of four planned hour long original Adventure Time specials. Wizard City is set to debut via HBO Max in the fall.
