Tim Burton is looking to bring The Addams Family back to the small screen.
According to Variety, MGM Television is currently in the process of developing a brand new series about everyone’s favorite spooky brood, The Addams Family.
The studio has already lined up some notable names to work on the proposed live-action series reboot behind the scenes. Specifically. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (who previously served as co-creators on Into the Badlands) have been tapped to write on the new live-action series.
Meanwhile, it’s also being reported that Tim Burton is currently in talks to serve as director and executive producer on the new live action Addams Family series.
The Addams Family have been resurrected quite a few times over in Hollywood since first created by Charles Addams for a comic strip in 1938.
On television, John Astin and Carolyn Jones starred as Gomez and Morticia Addams in ABC’s hit series, which ran for two years and originally premiered in 1964. In 1973, the family returned to the small screen in animated form, before returning once more in 1993 for yet another short-lived animated series.
On the big screen, the early 1990s found the family hitting the big screen in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993), both directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.
Most recently, the Addamses returned to the big screen in the 2019 CGI family feature which starred the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler, and Allison Janney.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see MGM TV’s reboot premiere.
