Cate Blanchett will play Lucille Ball in a biopic produced by Ball’s own children and written by Aaron Sorkin.
Titled Lucy and Desi, Aaron Sorkin’s biopic will tell the story of beloved American actress Lucille Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz, who created the iconic sitcom I Love Lucy together in 1940.
Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett will star as Lucille Ball, while producers are still searching for actors to play Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem is reportedly being eyed for the role) and their I Love Lucy co-stars Vivian Vance and William Frawley.

The script has been written by Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, The Social Network and Steve Jobs), with Ball and Arnaz’ children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. on board as producers with Escape Artists.
Now, Deadline reports that Amazon Studios has picked up the project; Amazon also recently acquired the Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp biopic.
Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz were married for 20 years before divorcing in 1960. Ball passed away in 1989, aged 77.
