Academy Award winning actress Holly Hunter has been cast in an unknown role in director Zack Snyder’s Batman Vs Superman film.
Warner Bros. announced today that Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto have joined the cast of Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, unofficially titled Batman Vs Superman.
Warner Bros. Creative Development President Greg Silverman and Sue Kroll announced the news today, and director Zack Snyder has released announcements concerning the characters which have been created for the sequel.
Director Zack Snyder says, “Holly has always been one of my favorite actresses; she has immense talent and is always captivating on screen. I had an opportunity to meet her a while back and knew instantly that I had to work with her, so as we began writing the script I made sure to create a role specifically for her.”
Concerning Callan Mulvey and Tao Okamoto, Snyder says he “just had the good fortune to work with Callan on 300: Rise of an Empire and was very impressed with his incredible talent. He’s a fantastic actor and I’m looking forward to having the chance to work with him again. And, quite simply, Tao is a striking presence whose beauty is aptly rivaled by her amazing abilities as an actress. I’m really excited to have her joining us on this adventure.”
Holly Hunter received her Oscar and a Golden Globe for her role in The Piano. Hunter is also a wildly popular TV actress who was the star of Saving Grace which ended its run in 2010.
Callan Mulvey was recently seen in 300: Rise of an Empire, which Snyder produced. He also has a role in the upcoming Marvel film Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He’s certainly on the rise and we look forward to seeing him in the Man of Steel sequel.
In other comic ties Tao Okamoto appeared in The Wolverine, which stars Hugh Jackman, where she played the character Mariko.
Snyder has continued to surprise fans as he cast Jesse Eisenberg as the film’s villain Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. We do have some faith in his casting choices though and Holly Hunter is certainly a highly talented actress which should help raise the film to a higher level.
Director Zack Snyder has jammed his movie with talented actors and new characters, so we’ll be curious to see what ends up being the focus of the film. We often forget that the biggest news is that Ben Affleck will be making his first appearance as Batman in this film, which will most likely be the main focus alongside Henry Cavill as Superman.
Batman Vs Superman’s release date is set for May 6, 2016. Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will return along with Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
