2016 MTV Movie Award nominees feature ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Deadpool,’ ‘Ultron’

There were some weird nomination choices in here.

10:45 am EDT, March 8, 2016

Those Hollywood blockbusters that everyone saw are very present amongst the 2016 MTV Movie Award nominations.

MTV has revealed the nominees for their annual movie awards events, and the 2016 nominees are led by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (with 11 nods), Deadpool (with 8), Avengers: Age of Ultron (with 6), and Mad Max, Pitch Perfect 2, The Revenant, and Trainwreck (with 4 each). Jurassic World, Straight Outta Compton, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 have 3 nods each.

You would’ve thought Mockingjay, Part 2 would’ve received more nominations since it was the last film in the series. It really couldn’t get a “Movie of the Year” nomination? What does Katniss have to do, for crying out loud? She saved Panem!!

Also strange: MTV’s “True Story” category does not include a nomination for Spotlight, the true story that won Best Picture at the 2016 Oscars a couple weeks ago.
