The eyes had it in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 4. Here’s everything you need to know about “Eye Spy,” plus a preview for next week’s episode!
Here’s what happened on tonight’s episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 1, episode 4, “Eye Spy”:
- The case: In Stockholm, a young woman steals a briefcase of diamonds from a group of men in red masks and impeccable suits.
- She totally cuts one of their hands off.
- Coulson takes Skye and Agent May to investigate, because he knows the thief.
- She is Agent Akela Amador, who didn’t play well with others. He trained her, and she – allegedly – died during a mission years ago.
- Except that she’s totally alive and is stealing diamonds.
- The team goes to Belarus to find her. Coulson doesn’t want to involve HQ, and May disapproves.
- Amador buys a key card with some of her diamonds.
- In Belarus, a woman tells Coulson and Ward that Amador is a psychic angel.
- In the van, Skye tells Ward that Men And Women Are Different.
- And then Amador tries to kill Skye, Fitz, and Simmons with x-ray vision and a van.
- Thankfully she doesn’t succeed.
- May decides that enough is enough and goes to take Amador in.
- Amador says that only one of them gets to walk out of the hotel room.
- So it’s a good thing that Coulson shows up with a night-night gun (name pending) and takes Amador out with one of those handy neurotoxin bullets.
- It turns out that Amador was kidnapped after her final disastrous mission and now her left eye is a camera which sends her instructions for nefarious missions.
- Also it can kill her.
- Ward will complete Amador’s mysterious mission, wearing a pair of glasses with a camera hooked up to her eye-camera feed. Or something.
- The important thing is how good he looks in the glasses.
- Amador is surprised that Coulson is being so kind to her and expects an “I told you so.” He says, “That’s not me anymore.”
- Do you think that’s important?
- After a failed attempt at an ordered seduction (DARN IT), Ward finds himself in a room full of mysterious symbols written on chalkboards.
- The information is copied to Amador’s controller and Ward is cut loose to escape on his own.
- Meanwhile, Simmons and Fitz remove Amador’s deadly eyeball successfully, even though they both suck as surgeons.
- Coulson tracks down the man controlling Amador, only to watch as the fail-safe in the man’s own eye kills him as soon as Coulson can say “S.H.I.E.L.D.”
- Amador is extradited for trial, and asks May “what they did” to Coulson.
- The gears in May’s head begin to turn and the audience is like, “Oooooh.”
- In Skye’s co-opted van, Coulson tells her that he got a second chance, and feels he should pass it along to others.
- After the cut, Fitz snacks while playing poker with Ward.
- The upshot of which is that Skye still has the x-ray-powered glasses.
- Naughty girl.
Next week’s episode will be titled “Girl in the Flower Dress,” and it looks like themes of power will return to the surface.
