The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair is working its way into production now that the C.S. Lewis Company has entered into an agreement to jointly develop and produce the film based on C.S. Lewis’ fourth book.
Mark Gordon, who is part of the joint production, says, “Like many readers, both young and old, I am a huge fan of C.S. Lewis’s beautiful and allegorical world of Narnia. These fantasy stories inspire real-world passion among millions of devoted fans around the world. As we prepare to bring the next book to life, we are humbled and excited to contribute to the outstanding legacy of Narnia.”
The stepson of author C.S. Lewis, Douglas Gresham, says “I have a great deal of respect for Mark Gordon’s work and am confident that together we can bring the beauty and magical delight that Narnia engenders in the hearts of those who read the books to the screen in ‘The Silver Chair.’ I am very much looking forward to diving once more into Narnia, this time with Mark Gordon and his team.”
Gordon, Gresham, and Vincent Sieber will all be producers of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair, and will work with Mark Gordon’s company on developing the film’s script. Siber says that he’s very excited about the partnership that’s in the works and says that it’s great “to be able to work on this movie from its earliest conception on such a collaborative basis.”
He also says it gives them the opportunity to develop a quality script and produce the film with “some of the most talented industry professionals whilst remaining completely faithful to this much loved book.”
We’re glad to hear that the production team plans on staying close to the source material. According to ComingSoon.net, the first three Narnia films have a combined total of over $1.6 billion at the worldwide box office and this film should help add to that massive total. Are our Narnia fans happy to see The Silver Chair on its way to being filmed?
