We’re only a few weeks away from the highly-anticipated Glee season 5 premiere. Glee veteran Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike Chang) has talked about the upcoming Cory Monteith tribute episode scheduled for episode 3.
The Cory Monteith tribute episode of Glee, titled “The Quarterback,” will air on Fox on Thursday, October 10th. Harry Shum, Jr. spoke with Enstarz.com and revealed some interesting details about the episode.
“It has been challenging,” Shum says to Enstarz. “As you can imagine, it has been rough for the cast,” he said. “Filming the episode has been emotional but beautiful at the same time.”
The episode will begin with all of the characters learning about Finn’s death as well as their reactions. According to this same report, Rachel will not appear in the episode until the final act.
Shum also mentioned that the music in the episode will feature the cast singing songs that were previously sung by Finn at some point in the first 4 seasons of Glee.
“It has been emotional and tough. We’re filming and missing someone who was part of our family,” he said.
What may be even more interesting to Glee fans is that Shum revealed that after the cast is finished filming the Cory Monteith tribute episode, there will be an undetermined hiatus. Shum says he is unsure how long the hiatus will be, according to Enstarz:
“The writers are working on where to take the show from here, so we’ll all be taking some time off,” he said, admitting he’s not sure when the cast will reunite to film the rest of the season.
This close to the premiere of Glee season 5 it seems odd that they wouldn’t have a shooting schedule down pact, even with such an emotional hiatus happening.
We will certainly update with details about when the rest of the cast will return to film the rest of Glee season 5 – whenever that may be.
