Two new Doctor Who e-books have released the first chapter online for fans to read before they get released later this month.
First we have a peek of Summer Falls, written by Amelia Williams. The book made its brief debut on last Saturday’s Doctor Who season 7 part two premiere, and ever since its appearance on screen fans have speculated what it has to do with Amelia Williams, how Clara has it, and why Chapter 11 is so good it’ll make us cry.
The book gets released tomorrow, Thursday the fourth, but now we have a sneak peek thanks to The Radio Times. Of special note is the publishing date of 1954, which would be roughly 20 years after Amy and Rory were sent back in time. This would mean that Amy was approximately 50 years old when she penned the tale. You can download the story here or view it at The Radio Times.
We also have a sneak peek at the next eShort, the series of short stories that focuses in on each of the Doctors. The author this time out is Phillip Reeve, who also happens to be an illustrator. He is best known for his Mortal Engines and Larklight Trilogy series.
Reeve’s tale focuses in on the ever popular Fourth Doctor who was portrayed by fan-favorite Tom Baker. The companion in the eShort is Leela. Leela is an interesting choice because due to Baker’s long run as the Doctor, he had many companions. The story is set in 1979 and is titled The Roots of Evil. The official description reads:
When the Fourth Doctor takes Leela to visit an immense tree space station known as the Heligan Structure, little do they know that the tree has been asleep for centuries, dreaming of vengeance against a man in a blue box… As the tree awakes, the Time Lord and his companion soon discover why they are such unwelcome guests.
