CBS has released the summary for episode 6×20 of The Big Bang Theory, entitled “The Tenure Turbulence” – and it looks like more than one familiar face will be returning to join the prestige-fray. Mild spoilers ahead.
It’s hard to believe, but season 6 of The Big Bang Theory is beginning to near its conclusion. Episode 6×20, “The Tenure Turbulence” will air on April 4, and CBS has released its official summary for what looks like a potentially career-changing installment in the lives of our adorable scientists.
Leonard, Sheldon and Raj fight for tenure at the University, and the competition heats up when the girls get involved.
Earning tenure is a pretty big deal, so it makes sense that the open slot will cause strife among the gang. (Sans Howard, thanks to that measly masters in engineering!) We can’t help but wonder which girl is going to be in Raj’s corner though, as Kate Micucci’s new character, Lucy, is not credited in the episode; perhaps Bernadette will step up for her husband’s bestie?
“The Tenure Turbulence” will have more elements in play than just the geeky gang, however. None other than Sheldon’s recurrent nemesis Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie) will appear in the episode, we assume as another candidate for the tenured position. Kripke was last seen in “The Cooper/Kripke Inversion,” in which he and Sheldon reached a bizarre truce, but only time will tell if that tenuous connection can withstand the allure of tenure.
Also returning for “The Tenure Turbulence” is Regina King, who first appeared this season in “The Egg Salad Equivalency”. King plays Ms. Davis, the university’s head of Human Resources and – given her less-than-positive interactions with Sheldon in that episode – her involvment speaks to dire (and hilarious) straights in pursuit of academic acknowledgment.
