Following up on evidence over the weekend, 20th Century Fox has now confirmed that The Fault in Our Stars will be directed by Josh Boone.
“John’s book came along just when I needed it,” Boone told The Hollywood Reporter. “It pierced my heart and helped me deal with my grief. I laughed and cried and was left with an overwhelming feeling of hope. That our lives matter, that the love and kindness we share with others reverberates long after we’re gone. ”
“I feel the weight and responsibility to get this right, and give his readers and devoted fans as pure a translation as possible… We hope to create a little infinity within this film that fans can revisit over and over.”
Boone’s only other movie experience is writing and directing Stuck in Love, which we wrote about last March. The film stars Logan Lerman, Kristen Bell, and Lily Collins. In the film, according to the official synopsis, “an acclaimed writer, his ex-wife, and their teenaged children come to terms with the complexities of love in all its forms over the course of one tumultuous year.” It hits select theaters this April.
The Fault in Our Stars was written by John Green and the movie will be produced by Wyck Godfrey. Shailene Woodley is in the running to play Hazel Grace, as we exclusively confirmed last Friday.
