During the Super Bowl this past Sunday, a new commercial for Star Trek Into Darkness premiered. It featured Cumberbatch with an iconic new line: “I am better. At everything.” The film synopsis reads:
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man (Benedict Cumberbatch) weapon of mass destruction.
As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
EW’s cover story preview includes some light details on the film’s plot line. “This time around, the fight is coming to Earth, where both London and San Francisco will face brutal attacks. And expect more fighting from Uhura (Zoe Saldana), who’s still navigating the waters of her relationship with Spock (Zachary Quinto), too,” it says.
Star Trek Into Darkness opens May 17, 2013.
