With True Blood gearing up to shoot its sixth season (and its first without Alan Ball), the show today added a couple new actresses.
Friday Night Lights‘ Jurnee Smollett will play “a do-gooder who possesses the rosy outlook of someone that life hasn’t beaten down yet,” according to TV Line who broke the news. “She’s not concerned with money and more concerned with the doing what’s right.”
In addition, Amelia Rose Blaire will play Will, “the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (played by Arliss Howard). She has long clashed with her father over vampire rights.”
Interesting roles for both actresses indeed. They both appear to have similar purposes on the show, assuming that Smollett’s character will be looking out for vampires as well.
Last week we shared an interview with incoming showrunner Mark Hudis, who promised some big changes for the upcoming plot. Amongst noting that Bill was going to have more bite, we also heard that Hudis wants to bring more of the action back to Bon Temps. The town is featured prominently on the show, but Hudis sounds like he wants to get back to that more classic True Blood feel that we personally miss.
True Blood season 6 is expected to kick off this June.
