Though The Big Bang Theory is taking a small hiatus, recent red-carpet interviews have offered hints at what’s coming up for the pals from Pasadena.
First off comes the official episode summary for episode 6×14, “The Cooper/Kripke Inversion.” CBS says:
Sheldon is forced to work with Barry Kripke and faces a crisis of confidence. Meanwhile, Howard and Raj spend $1,000 on action figures of themselves.
“The Cooper/Kripke Invasion” will air on Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. EST.
In the meanwhile, a few more snippets of information have surfaced, offering a few teasing hints about the future of The Big Bang Theory. Actor Jim Parsons spoke to TV Guide at the People’s Choice Awards about potential developments in Sheldon’s relationship with Amy. Parsons reports that “The Cooper/Kripke Inversion” involves Penny finally asking Sheldon if he would ever consider getting intimate (really intimate) with Amy. “He doesn’t rule it out,” Parsons says, which, let’s face it, in Shamytown is tantamount to sex on the beach. Even Parsons says that the fractional development “gives [him] encouragement that [Sheldon and Amy] might be getting there.” Knowing Sheldon, we aren’t quite holding our breath just yet, but it’s still exciting to watch the socially awkward couple take baby steps toward love.
Howard and Bernadette will also be facing changes, but perhaps not quite as pleasant. Melissa Rauch revealed at the Golden Globes that money issues will once again become an issue for the newlyweds. “Bernadette makes a lot more money than Howard now and we’re trying to figure out how the money should be split or spent,” Rauch says, indicating that the outcome may be mixed. “Hilarity ensues — as does a fight — in typical Big Bang style.”
And an upcoming Valentine’s Day episode may bring tribulations for Leonard and Penny, as TV Line reports “another snag” in that relationship. Sheldon and Amy may have a bumpy time as well, as “Amy tells Sheldon that she got him the perfect gift,” executive producer Bill Prady revealed. But as long-time viewers will know, “Sheldon doesn’t like gifts, so it’s a very difficult time for Sheldon trying to reciprocate.” The perfect present probably won’t pull Dr. Cooper toward Amy’s bed, though, as Prady promised, “It’s not sexual. I’ll tell you that much.”
And in perhaps the most oblique of teases, Michael Ausiello adds the cryptic note that episode 16 of season 6 “features a marriage proposal.”
Oh, my. Has Leonard gotten carried away in the sack again? Does Raj rediscover his faded love for Siri? Or will Sheldon tell Amy he wants to wait for marriage? Share your predictions below!
