Another Oscar season is coming to a close, as the 2013 Academy Awards air this Sunday. In anticipated of our complete coverage of the event, we have our 2013 Oscar predictions of who will come away with a gold statue in each of the 24 categories, from Best Picture on down to Best Documentary Short.
One of the most interesting Oscar races in years, there are nonetheless several categories that can be considered locks: Daniel Day-Lewis for Best Actor in Lincoln, Anne Hathaway for Best Supporting Actress in Les Miserables, Amour for Best Foreign Language Film, Searching for Sugar Man for Best Documentary Feature, and Adele for “Skyfall” in Best Original Song. Still other categories seem safe to include on the list, from Argo for Best Picture, to Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook, on down the list.
Yet there are several toss-up categories in this year’s race that should make the awards quite interesting this year. Best Director seems unsure, as Steven Spielberg for Lincoln could just as easily take the award as Ang Lee could for Life of Pi. The Best Supporting Actor field is completely wide open, as Robert De Niro for Silver Linings Playbook, Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained and Tommy Lee Jones in Lincoln each have pundits in their respective corners. Along with these, several technical categories could bring surprises come Sunday evening.
Despite these uncertainties, we’ve done our best to come up with the best predictions possible. These in no way reflect our personal hopes or feelings towards the films nominated, but rather what we’d put our money on to win, if we were the betting type, that is.
Remember to join us for our live coverage from the Academy Awards this Sunday, February 24, here on Hypable. Without further adieu…
