At Fringe‘s 100th episode celebration, the cast and crew shared some tidbits about what the finale will hold and reflected on the seasons past.
TV Line spoke to the actors and producers in attendance at the party, who all had really interesting things to say.
Showrunner Joel Wyman was asked about whether we’ll see Olivia’s wedding ring before the end, and he said, “When it comes, it comes. It’s a very personal thing for the character.”
Further, Wyman also revealed that the cast knew what was coming at the beginning of the series. “If I have the ability to write the scripts in advance and put the emotion forward, I should give them the same opportunity, to craft the characters and say goodbye to them in a proper way,” he said.
Creator JJ Abrams was also in attendance, and he revealed why the alternate universe aspect of the show was not a part of his original pitch: “Well, I’m not an idiot. If you start to pitch leading with what is heavy sci-fi, you invariably scare the hell out of everyone!”
Joshua Jackson teased Peter’s transition to an Observer. On whether he’ll go bald, Jackson joked, “not bald enough – but maybe too bald for people’s tastes!”
The role reversal between Olivia and Peter will continue in the last few episodes, Anna Torv revealed that, “a little bit more of that will come up.”
And finally, Jasika Nicole discussed Astrid’s role on the show. At first, “I didn’t know for a while what her role would be… because she wasn’t super-integral to what was going on,” Nicole admitted. “But she gets her moment to shine!”
Fringe returns this Friday with the episode “The Human Kind.”
