Jeff Davis starts off by telling us how MTV approached him to do a TV show based off of the Michael J. Fox movie of the same name. Being a fan of the original movie (though apparently not the sequel), Davis gladly took the job. The idea was to make it more like The Lost Boys, with a darker and scarier tone than the original movie.
They segue into showing a clip of a fan who dressed up as the female version of Stiles. She made some adjustments to the outfit, but made sure she got all the important details – the red jacket, the lacrosse stick, and of course Dylan O’Brien’s moles.
When asked if Stiles is going to “werewolf it up in season 3,” Jeff Davis says, “We’re thinking about a Halloween episode and we have an idea.” But, of course, he’s mum on any details. Posey doesn’t seem to know anything either, at least not until he receives the scripts. “And then when the script comes out, does it say ‘Keep your mouth shut or we’ll dot-dot-dot’?” asks MTV Geek. “There’s no dot-dot-dot,” Posey replies. “It’s straight up murder.”
Davis also answered some questions about the recent departure of Colton Haynes, who had played Jackson in the last two seasons. When asked if there was still going to be a love triangle between Jackson, Stiles, and Lydia, Davis said, “Not anymore, apparently. We found out recently that Colton Haynes is not returning to the show, so there are going to be some reconfigurations of character drama, but we’ll move on.”
He also says that they’re definitely going to have to move some things around, but it won’t be a dramatic change. He had some plans for Jackson, but there’s still an overarching theme for the show that they’ll focus on. He also repeats what MTV said recently about leaving the door open for Haynes if he ever wished to come back.
Posey also pitches a hilarious idea to give Scott a superhero costume for at least an episode. Surprisingly (or maybe not so much given the usual type of humor we see in this show), Davis goes for it. “Maybe we can tie that into the Halloween episode,” he says.
