Tina Fey may be soon leaving 30 Rock behind but at least she’s not leaving 30 Rock behind.
Fey will be staying on at the Peacock through a four-year deal with Universal Television to develop new projects, with the door open to potentially act in them.
The 30 Rock lead actress and writer has been at the network since 1997 when she was a writer for Saturday Night Live. At this point she’s as much a part of NBC’s brand as a Soup Nazi t-shirt in the NBC Universal Store or Jay Leno’s crippling need to be loved.
The deal, which was first reported by Variety, will also allow Universal TV to license Fey-produced shows to other networks like NBC recently did with The Mindy Project. The good news is that whether it’s on NBC or otherwise it looks like we’ll have four more years of Liz Lemon having it all.
