It’s as if a million voices cried out in anguish. Well, not necessarily. He’s probably coming back and we know it.
Fresh from the very good people over at Hero Complex (via CBM) comes a quote that may have many Avengers fans rattling in their boots. Could Whedon possibly stand up helming the sequel to The Avengers?
“You know, I’m very torn. It’s an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else’s story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it. But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool.”
According to Marvel producer Kevin Feige, Whedon’s contract gives him an option to direct the sequel, and Whedon certainly dropped plenty of hints as to where he would plan on going should he return, so what’s stopping him? Would he really introduce a brand new iconic villain just to leave him in the hands of another director? Is that character even what Avengers 2 will be about? We think so.
In any case, we’re almost positive that Whedon will return (he’s made Disney very happy after all), once he’s been offered the right salary and release date of course.
