The Howard Stern Show America’s Got Talent made its Season 7 debut tonight with auditions in Los Angeles and St. Louis.
All joking aside, Howard Stern made quite the entrance. As we’ve reported before, there was speculation that Howard Stern would be too adult for the family audience that AGT is geared for. If tonight’s episode is any indicator, there is nothing to worry about. While AGT certainly could have became The Howard Stern Show, Howard blends in perfectly. Howard certainly does demand attention, but he still is only one judge. Most importantly of all, the show is still all about the talent.
In this writer’s opinion, this first episode was fairly lackluster. It was an enjoyable season premiere, but the “million-dollar-talent” that the show is searching for seemed to be hiding somewhere in the shadows. Nonetheless, there were some enjoyable performances. I’ll highlight a few that I thought were the standouts of the night.
The first act to go on to the Vegas rounds was instrument creator and musician William Close. Close wowed the judges with his earth harp, a harp that stretched over a large chunk of the theater.
