Zac Efron is taking on a vastly different role for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, where he’ll be playing serial killer Ted Bundy.

You may have first met Efron in High School Musical, Hairspray, or even 17 Again, but lately he’s been starring in much different films, such as Neighbors, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, and Baywatch..

Now, he’s taking on a totally different role for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, as he’ll be playing an infamous serial killer.

According to Variety, Joe Berlinger will direct Efron in the film, which was written by Michael Werwie. The site also provides an excellent side-by-side shot of the actor and the subject of the movie:

You can’t deny there’s an interesting resemblance.

The synopsis reads, “The project follows the dysfunctional relationship between Bundy and his long-time girlfriend Liz. Bundy, a killer and rapist of young girls and women who was notoriously charming, was executed in Florida in 1989.”

Anyone who has seen Efron on screen knows he’s more than capable of taking on a project such as this. It will certainly be interesting to see what the film will choose to focus on. Principle photography starts on October 9, 2017.
