Photos recently taken at Universal Studios Japan reveal that the show building for Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is seemingly being constructed at a fast pace. One would say it’s almost magic.
Forbidden Journey’s building, which will sit hidden behind Hogwarts once complete so visitors feel like the ride takes place within the school, appears to be the first part of major construction:

Wizarding World Japan is expected to open in late 2014 and have the same exact rides and shops currently open at Wizarding World Orlando. These attractions include The Leaky Cauldron restaurant, The Hog’s Head pub, Ollivander’s wand shop, Flight of the Hippogriff, Dragon Challenge, and the aforementioned Forbidden Journey thrill ride.
We’re interested to see if Universal takes on this clean slate to fix some of the issues with Wizarding World Orlando. Most notably: Size constraints. Many areas of Orlando’s Potter park are very cramped and can get overly crowded during peak times. That, combined with the heat, makes for uncomfortable conditions. Wizarding World Japan is taking over a huge space previously occupied by parking lots, so we suspect that it has a much more flexible space to work with this time around. In Orlando, the park was forced to work around tight space restrictions and existing rides.
Meanwhile: Wizarding World Hollywood’s major construction is yet to begin, but Wizarding World Orlando’s rumored London expansion is already very vertical. See photos of the building rumored to house a Gringotts thrill ride at Universal Studios.
